GTA IV DLC for PC

Yeah, you heard it right. GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City comes to PS3 and PC on March. Thank you Rockstar. You guys rock!

Mozilla released first mobile Firefox browser on Friday. Firefox Mobile 1.0 for Nokia's Maemo 5 platform mobiles.

Starting March 1st, Internet Explorer users must be running at least version 7 of the browser in order to properly use Google Docs and Google Sites. RIP IE6. Alienware's Core i7 equipped notebooks are now available. Comes with Core i7 920XM processor, dual 1GB GeForce GTX 280M GPUs (or a pair of Radeon Mobility HD 4870s), optional Blu-ray drive and pretty much anything else you can imagine.

Some of good tools I came across today are MyUninstaller (cool little uninstaller utility) and Netlimiter (internet traffic control and monitoring tool). Using Winodws 7? Guess what, Windows 8 RTM will surface in July 2011. Pretty early huh?

Apple iPad

Apple iPad is finally here! Steve Jobs yesterday announced the much awaited hot gadget from Apple, but the question is will it replace netbook?

iPad looks like a giant iPod touch :-)

And it's powered by 1GHz PA Semi processor called the "Apple A4"

Also Apple revealed iBookstore and apps for the iPad on the same event.

Another good news. Apple has lifted VoIP over 3G restriction with the new iPhone SDK 3.2. It means... :-)

YouTube Disco

What is YouTube Disco? Ok it's the Apple iTunes rival from Google. Check it out @ youtube.com/disco.

Sony reserved address PlayStationArc.com. Does that means the new motion controller is named Arc? We have to wait a little to know for sure. Is Firefox 3.6 faster than previous releases? Yes but still lags behind F1 rivals Safari & Chrome. 3D TV is coming  out in England this weekend, lets see how people react. Microsoft Silverlight 4 Beta Client for facebook is a cool dark but friendly GUI.

And here's the new Alphabet for your kid. :-)

Foobar2000 v1.0

What do you expects from a music player under 3MB in size? Listen to music? Yes. Foobar2000 is Fiat Uno out-of-the-box. Just simple interface and nothing else. Then what about this review, why I write it? A little installation of  few plugins and some minor customizations under the hood, you'll get a Ferrari at no cost. Take a look at the easy to use clean interface which is tweaked with Columns UI plugin.

And it integrates with Windows 7 task bar so you have easy control with player minimized.

The best feature of all is, it takes very low amount of system resources.

And with PrettyPopup plugin you can override default pop-up message.

I've been using music players since 1999 including JetAudio, Gamut 2000, Winamp, Sonique, Quint Essential Player, iTunes, Musicmatch Jukebox, Real Player, Windows Media Player, etc. Winamp was my favourite player of all time and I've used it many years. Why I gave up Winamp?

Winamp was used to be good, but now it's a hungry devil that eating lot of resources, and lot of features that no use to me at all. Foobar2000 provides best sound output possible without distortions at low ends. Ok it's doing a little, but still it does fine.

Apple Tablet

The (rumored) Apple Tablet and a transparent AMOLED screen.

Google Nexus... and more

Google Nexus with 1GHz and lot of RAM, nothing wrong in calling it a superphone. I'm waiting  till Firefox Mobile becomes available to get my hands on it. It can't be bad. Saw one gaming system with 6 monitors attached to AMD Eyefinity6 card! Wow. Nvidia Tegra 2 launched officially which will be available on most mobile devices very soon. Some are already there. Apple Tablet (rumored) will be the biggest contender for HP Slate, that's once it become available. Haier has introduced a completely wireless TV. No cables for video or power either. Hoping to get some more details on HTC HD2. Charge batteries on the go, Twirling battery is an amazing concept. Saw some reviews on ATI DirectX 11 compatible Mobility Radeon GPUs. Great fire-power on the move. Other than tech-stuff, Spider Man will be little delayed and all time favorite Lego will come back with Universe.

Windows 7 - Hands on

Ok I was a little late and I finally migrated to Windows 7! I was using Vista for about 11 months and apart from eating lot of resources, never had a serious issue worth complaining. Only issue I had was with my old Creative sound card driver (which Creative didn't release any driver compatibke with Vista) which later fixed by switching to kX Project WDM Audio Driver, which was awesome. Ok lets go for Windows 7 again. I was little lazy to backup all the docs and settings and go for a clean installation ;) So I thought of upgrading instead. I had Vista ultimate so it really didn't matter. Only problems I had was making nearly 17GB free space on C: drive and upgrade Vista  to SP1. (I never apply SPs unless absolute necessary, instead live with regular updates. Why? I don't know :) When GTA4 required XP SP3, I just tweaked registry and played the game.) Upgrading was really smooth, took around 2 hours to complete but without a single mess. Not a single issue? Alright I had to find new drivers for GPU, sounds, WiFi adpater and web cam. Nvidia got an updated driver. D-Link got a driver update, but I had to update the firmware also to make it work. Logitech got an updated driver for web cam. Only headache I had was with sounds. My old (but great) Creative Audigy doesn't have any official driver after XP. This time what I found was "SB Audigy Series Support Pack" by daniel_k. How is it? Simply amazing! (Thank u very much Daniel!)

Ok, what I feel about the new OS. Simply put - SUPERB! No kidding you can feel it's fast, mostly because I worked with Vista for neally 1 year. There're some great features under hood like easy wireless setup menu, new themes (like old times), redefined system tray, easy access to screen resolutions, new calc, mspaint and wordpad with office style ribbon. I'm glad I was able to work with old Creative card with full features. Ok I'm still digging up whats new. I'll make a full review about Windows 7 soon.
